Deep Dish Dungeon Items and Materials

Three materials, three different bottlenecks. Each page answers where it comes from before it answers why you are short.

Most dead ends in Deep Dish Dungeon are a missing material rather than a missing skill. These three cover the ones that stop the most runs: the iron rod that gates the Workbench, the axe that gates every root wall, and the clay that gates the tool chain itself.

The three pages

  • Iron rod — pickup spots, the smelter ratio, and the recipe list that tells you whether you have enough.
  • Axe — where the first one is, what it cuts, and the four checks to run when it will not cut.
  • Clay — goo piles, the drop rule, and the four costs that decide how much you need.

There is no hatchet

Players search for a hatchet and land here. The item file for build 25955406 contains axe and great axe only — there is no hatchet in the game. If a guide sends you looking for one, it is describing a different game.

Why these three and not the rest

The game has far more materials than this, but nearly every early wall resolves to one of these. Clay unlocks the smelter, the smelter produces iron rods, iron rods build the Workbench and the hammer, and the axe opens the root walls that hide the shortcuts back to camp. Fix the bottom of that chain and the rest of the material list tends to solve itself.
