Deep Dish Dungeon Cooking Table: Unlock, Fuel, Spoilage
Two blocks of wood and one leather — once you know that leather is the key, not corn. Then the fire, the fuel and the rot.

The Cooking Table costs 2 Wood Plank + 1 Leather and unlocks once you have held Leather — not corn, as most guides still say. It preps dough, wraps and fillets; the Cooking Pot is the separate station that turns those into soup.
How it unlocks now
Patch 1.0.50.0, published 21 October 2026, changed the Cooking Table's crafting unlock prerequisite from Corn to Leather. The recipe itself never moved: two wood planks and one leather, hand-crafted from the inventory.
If the station is missing from your menu, check what you have held rather than what you have eaten. Unlocks in this game are triggered by picking an item up once, per player — a friend in your lobby holding leather does nothing for your crafting list.
What the patch notes do not say is why. The practical effect is that the Cooking Table now arrives around the same time as leather armour and the Workbench chain, which puts it later than launch-week guides assume.
Cooking Table is not the Cooking Pot
This is the mix-up that wastes the most time, because the two stations look like a naming problem and are actually two different jobs.
| Station | Does | Does not |
|---|---|---|
| Cooking Table | Dough, wraps, fish fillets, raw pies, pastels | Boil, fry or bake anything |
| Cooking Pot | Soups, stews, pasta | Prepare dough or fillets |
Chinese-language guides use one word for both, which is where a chunk of the confusion starts. The English station names are distinct in game, and the Cooking Table is the one that produces raw components rather than finished meals.
There is a third table that is not a station at all: the dining table with three place settings near the golden door. That one wants three specific cooked dishes and belongs to the Queen's Door puzzle, not to your camp.
Lighting the fire properly
You light the campfire, not the pot. Stand at the fire with fuel in hand and interact; with nothing to burn it reads "Bring Wood to light", and once lit it shows "Burning Wood" with a count of pieces remaining.
A campfire costs 2 Stick + 1 Rock. Cooking progress only advances while the fire is burning, so a pot that sits at zero percent is usually a fire problem rather than a recipe problem.
Fuel: five pieces, four minutes each
Sticks, wood planks, bones, coal and rotten food all burn. The campfire holds up to five pieces at a time, each piece lasts roughly four minutes, and the type of fuel makes no difference — a stick burns as long as a lump of coal.
Two details follow from that. Rotten food is fuel rather than waste, which the developer confirmed directly: put it in the campfire the same as wood and coal. And every time a piece burns out, the fire sometimes leaves a lump of coal beside it, which quietly supplies the Oven.
Three spoilage rates, and one place food never rots
Storage is where most players lose food without noticing. The rates below are the ones NPC Tips reports from reading the files, and they line up with the developer's own demo patch notes.
- Chests and station slots — about 20 minutes per item.
- Food Basket — about three times slower, roughly an hour per item, and it holds five.
- Sorting Box, or the floor — no spoilage at all.
Container size matters too: a Small Chest holds 10, a Wooden Chest holds 15, and the Food Basket trades capacity for time. The Sorting Box is the odd one out — the developer described it as a way to "store items in a physical way, rather than just inventory UI", and you can simply throw things into it.
The 1.0.50.0 stacking change
Boiled Corn, Fruit Compote, Cooked Veggies, Seafood Pasta, Ramen and Spaghetti were set to stack size 1. A chest full of last night's soup is now six slots, not one — cook to order.
Why your station seems missing
Three checks, in order. First, have you held leather? The unlock is an item, not a level. Second, are you looking in the hand-crafting menu rather than a station's own menu? The table is built from the inventory. Third, is your build at least 1.0.50.0? Anything earlier still gates on corn, and the recipes menu will look identical either way.
If all three pass and the table still will not appear, that is worth reporting rather than grinding for more materials.
Three things it will not do
The station is narrow on purpose. It will not boil water, fry a fillet or bake the pie it just helped you assemble — those belong to the pot, the skillet and the oven, and standing at the wrong one produces a menu that looks empty.
It also will not remember a recipe you have never held. If the dough option is missing outright, you are short an ingredient rather than a level, and holding that item once adds the entry permanently. That is the same per-inventory unlock rule that governs the whole recipe list.
And it will not work underground. The Cooking Table is a camp station; cooking in the dungeon happens on a campfire you built with two sticks and a rock, with a pot you carried down.
Where the stations live
Only the Cooking Table is furniture you place at camp. The Cooking Pot, Skillet, Rotisserie and Kettle sit on a campfire, and several camps in the dungeon already have one of them standing ready — which is why a run can cook a full meal three rooms deep without carrying anything but ingredients.
Nothing stops you building several campfires side by side, so roasting and stewing can happen at once. That matters when a recipe wants 45 seconds and another wants 90: two fires halve the wait, and the fuel bill is the same.
The Cooking Table's own output is raw. Dough, fillets and pie shells come off it uncooked, and the Oven, Pot or Skillet finishes them. A table standing at camp with no fire nearby is a prep station, not a kitchen.
Quick answers
How do I unlock the Cooking Table?
Hold Leather. Since patch 1.0.50.0 the prerequisite is leather, not Wild Corn, and the station costs 2 Wood Plank + 1 Leather to build.
How do I light it?
Light the campfire beside it — 2 Stick + 1 Rock — then add up to five pieces of fuel. Progress only runs while the fire burns.
How long does fuel last?
About four minutes per piece, and the fuel type does not change the duration. Sticks, planks, bones, coal and rotten food are all equivalent.
How do I stop food spoiling?
Put it in a Food Basket for roughly three times the shelf life, or a Sorting Box or the floor, where it does not spoil at all.
Confidence note
The Leather prerequisite is quoted from the official 1.0.50.0 notes. Fuel duration and spoilage rates come from file analysis published by NPC Tips and match the developer's demo patch notes: one item at a time, about 20 minutes in a chest, at least an hour in a Food Basket.
