Deep Dish Dungeon Recipes: Eight Stations and One Rule
There is no recipe book. There is a rule set, eight stations, and one ordering quirk that decides what your pot produces.

Official mediaQuick answer
Recipes unlock when a player has held one of the ingredients, not when they read about it. The pot then cooks the first recipe your ingredients match, checking in a fixed order — which is why two pieces of raw meat make Meat Soup instead of Stew.
Each station does one job
Cooking in Deep Dish Dungeon is a production line rather than a single menu. The Cooking Table preps, the pot and skillet cook, the oven and rotisserie finish, and the kettle brews. Using the wrong one produces nothing, which reads as a missing recipe.
| Station | What it makes | Cost to build |
|---|---|---|
| Cooking Table | Dough, wraps, fish fillets, raw pies and pastels | 2 Wood Plank + 1 Leather |
| Cooking Pot | Soups, stews, pasta | 1 Iron Pot + 3 Iron Rod |
| Skillet | One ingredient alone, or two together | 1 Grate + 3 Iron Rod |
| Oven | Bakes pies and pastries; burns coal | 5 Clay + 1 Grate |
| Rotisserie | Three slots at once; food burns if left | 2 Stick + 2 Wood Plank |
| Kettle | Potions; needs water first | 1 Iron Pot + 2 Chains |
| Forge Anvil | Upgrades weapons to level 3 | 5 Scrap Metal + 2 Wood Plank |
The Kettle is called the Infuser on at least one guide. The game files call it a Kettle, so both names describe the same station, and neither is wrong enough to matter while you are standing in front of it.
Unlocks follow the inventory, not the save
The developer's rule, stated on Discord in March 2026, is blunt: "Each player needs to grab one of the items in the recipe to unlock it." Hold the ingredient once and the recipe appears in your menu permanently.
Two consequences follow. In co-op, unlocks are per player, so a friend who never held leather still cannot see leather recipes inside your world. And a handful of recipes want you to have held the product as well — the axe recipes only appear after you pick up an axe, the same for the great axe.
The pot checks in a fixed order
This is the single most useful mechanic to understand, because it explains every "why did I get the wrong soup" question. The pot walks its recipe list in a set order and cooks the first one your ingredients satisfy.
| You put in | You get | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Two Tomatoes | Tomato Soup | The two-tomato recipe comes first |
| Two Raw Meat | Meat Soup, not Stew | Stew wants a vegetable in the second slot |
| Raw Meat + any vegetable | Stew | The vegetable diverts it |
| Noodles + Raw Meat | Ramen | Noodles route to the pasta list |
| Tomato + Wild Pepper + Corn | Cooked Veggies | Any two vegetables satisfy it |
One extra slot goes to flavour: algae, azurea mushroom, basil, bone, cilantro, guarana berries, lime and spider venom are set aside to season the dish rather than counted as ingredients. They still occupy a slot, so a "two ingredient" recipe with a spice in it is really a three-slot operation.
The cheap version of every dish you need
Most recipes accept a range of ingredients, and some of those ranges are much cheaper than others. These are the lowest-cost combinations reported for the dishes that matter.
- Tomato Soup — 2 Tomato.
- Bean Soup — 2 Black Beans.
- Cooked Veggies — 1 Apple + 1 Black Beans.
- Meat Soup — 1 Rat, the cheapest protein in the game.
- Stew — 1 Rat + 1 Red Bat Carcass.
- Rock Soup — 1 Red Bat Carcass + 1 Rock.
"Any vegetable" is broader than it sounds: cassava root, apple, roasted apple, wild corn, roasted corn, tomato, mushroom, wild pepper, algae and black beans all qualify. "Any protein" covers raw and cooked meat, fish fillets, drumsticks, scorpion tails, bug guts, protein chunks and steak.
The three dishes the golden door wants
The Queen's Door in the Inner Castle opens for Cooked Veggies, Bean Soup and Stew, three dishes that between them use a vegetable, a bean and a protein. Reported times are 45 seconds for the vegetables and 60 seconds each for the soup and the stew.
Because the door checks the dishes rather than the ingredients, the cheapest route is also the fastest: one apple, two black beans, one rat and one bat carcass covers all three plates.
Food is a stat system, not a hunger bar
Every dish raises a different combination of maximum health and stamina, and some add an effect. Bean Soup is the early standout at roughly +40 health and +20 stamina; pizza is the luxury option at +60 and +40 with a one-minute immunity buff.
Potions run off the same ingredients through the Kettle, with durations attached: healing from basil at 60 seconds, stamina from cilantro at 80, infinite stamina from lime at 120, and darkvision from azurea mushroom at 160 seconds.
Stack sizes changed in 1.0.50.0
Boiled Corn, Fruit Compote, Cooked Veggies, Seafood Pasta, Ramen and Spaghetti now stack to one item each. Cooking a batch and stuffing it in a chest no longer works for those six dishes — cook what you are about to eat.
Potions are their own list
The Kettle uses the same ingredients as the kitchen but produces timed buffs instead of meals, and the durations are fixed rather than scaling with anything. Basil gives healing for 60 seconds, cilantro stamina for 80, guarana a restore for 50, lime infinite stamina for 120 and spider venom a stun for 120.
Two of them change how you explore. Azurea mushroom grants darkvision for 160 seconds, which is the buff worth carrying into the crypt where the statue puzzle sits in a room a torch barely covers. The spice blend grants immunity for two minutes and pairs naturally with a fight you have already lost once.
Water goes in first at the Kettle, unlike every other station. A potion that refuses to start is usually a dry kettle, not a missing recipe.
What this page will not print
A total recipe count. One database says 153 and states its baseline is the demo build; another says 190 across nine stations with no version at all. A patch can move either number, so the stations and the rules age far better than a headline figure.
Quick answers
How many recipes are there?
No verified total exists. Community counts range from 153, measured on a demo build, to 190 across nine stations. Neither is official.
Why did my pot make the wrong dish?
The pot checks recipes in a fixed order and cooks the first match. Two raw meat makes Meat Soup; add a vegetable instead of the second meat to get Stew.
Do recipe unlocks carry to friends?
No. Unlocks are per player inventory, so each person has to hold the ingredient themselves.
What do the three golden-door dishes need?
Cooked Veggies, Bean Soup and Stew. Any vegetable works for the first, black beans for the second, and any vegetable plus any protein for the third.
Confidence note
Station roles, the unlock rule and the pot's ordering come from NPC Tips' data pages and the developer's Discord posts, cross-checked on 2026-10-27. The per-recipe timings are read from files rather than measured in game, so allow a margin. Stat values are taken from a Chinese recipe table and have not been re-tested here.
